Now that masks are covering almost every face, we're sure learning how much we talk with our eyes. People are looking into our eyes more than ever before and we want them to sparkle and pop.
So for the month of March we're celebrating vivacious, lively eyes. Here are some tips for eye-catching eyes.
Sleep
When it comes to our beauty routine, sleep may be the closest thing there is to the fountain of youth. You know you see those dark circles of bags under your eyes when you aren't getting enough sleep. While you're getting your zzzzz's, your body repairs and recovers, skin makes new collagen and more collagen means skin is plumper and less likely to wrinkle. Also pro tip: elevate your head with an extra pillow which will help to reduce swelling.
Hydrate
Drinking water helps reduce dark circles. The water flushes out the toxins from your system and thereby reduces the amount of salt concentration in and around the eye area. If you've been eating salty food lately, chances are you will wake up in the morning with puffy eyes. So cut back on the salt and make sure you're taking in plenty of water throughout the day.
Eye Treatments
There are plenty of eye treatments available these days but there are three I find most useful.
First I use Rodan and Fields Active Hydration Bright Eye Complex. I find it brightens my eyes because it lessens the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. This treatment is supercharged with phytonutrients and illuminating brighteners and does a deep hydration around the under-eye area.
To reduce the crow's feet, wrinkles and sagginess on my upper lids, I use the R+F Multi Function Eye Cream. It's designed for the delicate skin around the eyes and I feel like my eyes look younger since I've started using it.
Everyone I know is worried about the bags under their eyes and they seem to get bigger and darker as we age. The R+F REDEFINE Multi Function Eye Cream really does it all to reduce the bags and signs of aging around my eyes.
Zoom Eyes
You may be turning up for your Zoom meetings wearing pyjama bottoms but you don't want to look like you're ready to go back to bed. A little concealer and makeup can help you look wide awake and ready to work.
An under-eye concealer will work wonders to brighten your eyes. Use a light, non-creasing concealer. Blend it well to hid the appearance of dark circles and reduce red and blue undertones.
You can actually make your eyes appear larger and more open over Zoom with properly applied makeup. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you get your eyes ready.
Define your crease with a natural colored shadow. Keep the shadow rounded and make sure it follows your natural eye shape. If you bring the shadow out too far and create an almond shape, that's going to actually close the eye by creating an elongated shape when facing the camera head on.
Use a eyeliner just underneath your lash line to enhance the perimeter. This will make your eyes appear wider.
Finish your look with a few generous coats of mascara. This will accentuate the perimeter of your eye and make it appear larger. If you're used to to one coat of mascara, go a couple more. Layer it up because that is going to give your eye definition.
For those of us who prefer to be au naturel , keep in mind a well groomed eyebrow will also give your eyes definition and lift. And for color there always lash and brow tinting.
Now you're ready for Zoom and real life! The eyes have it!
